Diane Pernet, has long been a firm figure on the fashion circuit. Having first a career in fashion design, then moving into journalism, Diane is well respected as author of internationally acclaimed fashion blog, ‘A Shaded View on Fashion’ and co-Editor of German fashion magazine, Zoo. Diane is also renowned for her visually arresting style: entirely black, complete with Mantilla veil, Pompadour and flowing black dresses, her signature red lips finish the look.
Now keen ‘A shaded view on Fashion’ readers have another project to look forward to: ‘A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival’, which will launch in September, hosted by the prestigious Jeu de Paume gallery, in fashion capital Paris and will be the first fashion film festival in Paris.
The festival sprung to life out of Diane’s two passions, fashion and film, between which she has always seen a relationship. Following Diane’s launch of ‘You Wear it Well’, a series of travelling short films on fashion in 2006, ‘A Shaded View On Fashion Film’, will expand to include documentaries and films in which fashion and clothes are the central theme. The Masters of Style series, by Madeleine Czigler, written and hosted by Tim Blanks focuses on British designers Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, while ‘Le choix de Diane’ shows a series of films that focus on the Nobuyoshi Araki, Japanese photographer and contemporary artsist. Araki is considered to be one of the most prolific artists alive or dead in Japan and around the world and his work often has erotic influences.
